1) Holding Seminar to Support Member Companies’ Overseas Advancements
KOSSA held a seminar to support its member companies’ overseas advancement as a venue for sharing the knowledge of those with experience in the field, in an immediate response to the member companies’ request for information on overseas expansion.
The seminar consisted of two sessions: one given by Kim, Dae-hyun (CEO of Atomy) on “The Purpose of and mental attitude for overseas advancement and cases in the US and Canada,” and another by Kwon, Seok-gyun, (Director of the overseas business division, Atomy) on “Key issues to consider when entering the Southeast Asian market and their market status,” paving the way for mutual growth of the member companies.
In the first lecture, Atomy’s CEO, Dae-hyun Kim, explained the company’s status of active overseas advancement (approximately 2.04 million overseas members as of the end of last year), the proportion of overseas sales, the environment for overseas business, principles for overseas business, product launching strategies, simplification of the marketing plan, and precautions for overseas advancement, etc.
As the second lecture shared the local information accumulated over the years at Atomy, it drew enthusiastic responses from member companies. The session covered the checklist for entering major Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and China, the market sizes and indicators, consumer needs and other tendencies, statutory requirements for obtaining MLM business licenses, and cautions in understanding the culture and sentiment of the local people.

2) Holding Open Discussion Meeting on MLM Business Operators’ Brokerage Services
In line with the growing trend of new distribution forms, KOSSA arranged a meeting to seek ways to expand the member companies’ brokerage services and discuss pending legal system issues such as the DDSA. The meeting about the brokerage service progressed under the subtitle, “To what extent the brokerage is open for us?” KOSSA and two member companies gave a presentation on the topic, and three external experts were invited to discuss the issue. It was the first meeting in which all sectors, including industry, academia, and legal circles, gathered together to exchange opinions.
In the first session, KOSSA presented on the “Discussion on the Expansion of the Scope of Brokerage” (Presenter: Lee, Yun-kyoung, Head of Mutual Aid Compensation Team), Atomy on the “Business Model for Brokerage Services” (Presenter: Attorney Oh, Seung-yu), and ACN Korea on the “Characteristics and Current Status of the Products Sold through Brokerage.”
The second session was conducted in the form of designated and free discussions. The panel including Chairman Yu, Jai-Un of KOSSA as the chairperson of the panel, Attorney Han, Gyeong-su of Wimin Law Firm, Professor Lee, Byung-jun (Graduate School of Law, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), and Professor Koh, Hyeong-seok (School of Law, Sunmoon University) as the panel members had a heated discussion on various issues, including the applicability of law to brokerage, the subject and period concerning the withdrawal of the subscription, the scope of compensation, etc.
